Welcome to Mandingo Union UK and Ireland webpage

We are happy to communicate and share our organization’s activities with you.  

The organisation was formed to foster unity, cooperation, progress and prosperity amongst people of Mandingo descent or with other kinds of ties or connections to Mandingos at home and abroad, in accordance with our religion and culture.

Since the organisation was established in 2014, with limited financial resources, we have been growing gradually from strength to strength. Even to remain intact as a viable organisation is quite an achievement in these trying times.  This is all because what we lack in financial resources, we have in abundance in passion, will power and determination to succeed. Thanks to the fact that we are blessed with dedicated members who have been willing and happy to sacrifice their time, skills, knowledge and meagre financial resources to keep the organisation strong and healthy.  This brings to mind two such members, now departed, who were among the backbones of the organisation. They supported us unflinchingly with time, expertise and financial resources with lots of love and passion. May Allah richly reward Haja Seray Boie and ……….. Ameen

Let me also pay a special tribute to another outstanding member of the organisation. Due to the key role she played in the establishment of the organisation with her infectious enthusiasm that has driven all of us to this stage of our development, she deserves to be singled out for an honourable mention in this introduction. May the almighty Allah reward, guide and bless her with good health and long life. I’m referring to no less a person than Haja Fatu Janneh. Thank you and God bless. 

For all the rest of the membership not mentioned here by name, you and I know that each and every one of you has been exemplary in your dedication and service to the organisation. May Allah bless you too. Let’s keep up the good work. 

 

Mandingo union is a broad term embracing anyone with some Mandingo connection other than birth, like marriage, adoption, guardianship and long standing friendship. Membership is therefore open to all our Mandingo brothers and sisters in the UK and Ireland coming from all over West Africa; to all descendants of Mandingos including anyone with just a trace of what modern science refers to as Mandingo DNA. It is also open to anyone who loves and respect and/or have had long standing social and communal ties with Mandingos and their culture. This means pretty much anyone who wishes to associate with us, become our friend and help us achieve our goal in sharing the beauty of our culture and the advancement of our people. So you’re all welcome to join our organisation and rub shoulders with us at anytime.
